About
Mette Ginnerskov-Dahlberg is Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor (Docent) in Sociology of Education at the Department of Education, Uppsala University, where she has worked since 2022. Trained as an anthropologist, she holds a PhD in European Studies from Aarhus University (2019).
She specialises in ethnographic and longitudinal methods, with a regional focus on Western Europe and the South Caucasus. Her work explores the lived experience of migration, particularly the relationship between geographical and social mobility and the labour market integration of student migrants. Her book Student Migration from Eastern to Western Europe (Routledge, 2021) follows Eastern European students in Denmark over several years. Her recent research examines Indian medical students in Georgia, focusing on migration, education and future mobility pathways, and the high-risk educational strategies of new middle classes on the move.
She also writes on preschool choice and educational inequality in Sweden, and works in Danish, Swedish, English and German.
